Spot on works out of Delta.
I'm sure they are staying In McGrath I can't see them camping out. LOL And they have to have a place to land and refuel.
Not sure but I think part of the survey Is tagging moose calf's.

Barb can probably tie one to a tree, if you ask her nicely.

Just doing what I want now.

Must be population estimation survey. Can't imagine ADF&G doing composition surveys this time of year. Is it adf&g or feds?

Probably more about collaring. Although, the lack of snow in November has prevented comp/surveys for years here.

Well there is no lack of snow at this point !! I haven't seen this much snow in a very long time ! But, at this time of year the moose are mostly yarded up on the willow bars along the river.

This is a great time of year to get a population estimate. They try to combo the estimate with composition in November/ early December. Composition= # cows, # calves, yearling bulls, bull size range. cow/calf ratios, bull /ratios.

Composition is more important than Census. JMHO.

You must have gotten most of ours this year. Try to share next year, if you would.

My good buddy Jon B works out of Mcgrath with Josh for ADFG
They stay busy it sounds like...especially with the bison herds growing.
She will probably be working with them.

Jon got checked out in the states super cub and enjoys getting paid to fly
Been a dream of his....he is originally from Fairbanks, son of retired fish biologist, Louis Barton.
