I was wanting to make a butterscotch trailing lure with some butterscotch flavoring i got from a local icecream store. Its not actual butterscotch but a liquid flavoring. What can i use to make a slightly thicker lure i can put in squirt bottles like urine and fish oil come in? Thands

I’ve not done this but would think mineral oil or even peanut oil would work. Mineral oil would be pretty much neutral and require less butterscotch. The peanut oil has its own smell and I would assume, take more butterscotch to achieve the same results.
Hope this helps, good luck !

my advice is quit wasting money on trailing scents. works lots better and lots cheaper to put your trap where the coon is going to go anyway

I agree with Danny, and instead of trailing scent, I run a "few" pcs of DP bait tween the water/trail and trap

I like fish juice in hershy syrup bottle .I take acouple gallons of fish like shad;bullheads or chubs and let soak soak in acouple gallons of water until it smells strong but not rotten add enough glycerin and salt to keep it from freezing .drain water off as needed replace water as needed .if you add oil like butterscot h oil or shellfish oil you have to shake vigorously before application .
The main place i use it is when trapping in water i give a squirt up the bank to the high bank trail. Coons will follow it down the bank to your pocket or from waters edge to the high bank trail either way they WILLfollow it

I don't know everything but I know enough to not argue water trapping with bigfoot. IF I was to use a trailing scent it would be something like he just described. I can get a couple gallons of shad pretty quick with a throw net.

Id likely squirt it with one of those big dish soap bottles though. Even drunk I would remember not to have a squirt from a dish soap bottle....

Keep in mind that the "flavorings" usually dont have the lasting odor or the push of the essential oils. Some flavorings can lose their odors quite fast so be sure to test it to see if it provides the attractiveness you are needing from it.
