Can anyone tell me where I can buy fish meal? I understand it is mixed with chicken feed a lot and I’d like to get a couple of pounds to mess with but the chicken feed offered around here is mostly cracked corn. Any help would be appreciated.

coop can get it for you. if they wont call omega protein in st louis. they are bulk sellers but can tell you who to contact. straight up fish meal is not a real good animal attractant. those pellets of fish food have other stuff in them. I don't know what all but I know blood meal is one. another product I didn't think was real good. blood meal is flash frozen red blood cells. all the plasma has been removed. alone fish meal or blood meal either one wont catch much.
elk/deer blood poured in a dirt hole is a decent coyote bait. whole chunks of fish will catch a lot of stuff not just coons. for whatever reasons those meals need a lot of stuff added. I didn't try it just quit fooling with it but I suspect a good fish oil (not that pressed junk) would really kick fish meal in the pants

I obtained a 50lb bag from a dog food plant! 5 years later I still got 30lbs it makes a ok thickener in coon baits. It never tripped my trigger as a yote attractor. I plan to use the remainder of it on mater plants this spring

Maybe i should of specified what likes to dig out fish meal in dirt holes. FOX-COONS . For me there's other critters than yotes. But yet yotes aren't repealed by it . So use it in a bait to dry it out , use as a filler to extend a commercial bait. I don't think you can go wrong using it. Now there's a bacon bait recipe here on TM, that people say good things about. Look it up and add fish meal to a consistency you like . Sorry Cat4fish I wasn't implying that to offend anyone! Coons are hard not to attract lazus's bacon bait with a splash of fox urine is death on boar coons late in the season. Found that by accident couldnt keep big boar coons out of my fox sets so I coupled them. And started using it as a dp bait worked surprisingly well

lol the only thing ive found that opies aren't fond of is 22 shorts! Fish meal yes, will make a decent coon bait That's what I used to thicken a fresh mussel bait. It caught coons but cant say that id waste the resources to duplicate

I have found bone meal very attractive to skunks.

I just found out from Cameron Kelsey that LeRoy Renno has it in small quantities (2, 4 pound packages). One thing I’m going to do with it will be pre-baiting with cracked corn, Jonesie style. Trapping season is 6 months out and since I have time on my hands, I’m already toying with ideas. Being retired sure has its advantages.
