If a coyote comes up on a trap already clogged up with say a possum and walks completely around the possum and even takes a dump right on the outside edge of the catch circle, what are the odds he comes back on a remake? No blood or anything on or around trap area.

I would almost guarantee it.

Thanks gentlemen.
Had 2 coyotes on the opposite side of the block I’m trapping this morning. The other traps had been sitting since last Monday with not even a hint of sign or pics of anything.
Got up at 0445 and it was flooding. I was taking off at 1100 to help burn today so sent the manager a message at 0700 and told him my plans...didn’t want to mess up the roads in the downpour. He told me he was going to check his live traps and would look and see if he saw anything along my route. The managers wife then sent me a pic of a young coyote crossing in front of the camera (security purposes) and I told her I had traps in the area maybe I’d have one.
Well about 0845 I get a video from him of a coyote in a trap. 10 minutes later I get another video. Only had 9 traps out until we get burning more areas. I was beyond happy and so was he. I know y’all make it look easy and don’t struggle too much, but a coyote in a trap to me is the equivalent of shooting a 150” deer!
Thanks for everyone’s help along the way! One day I’ll get to where I can figure these critters out!!

Well...he came back and brought a friend!! Was going to set a second trap today outside the catch circle as recommended. They decided the old set was good enough and luckily found the other set as well.
I’ve learned a lot from this site and the main thing was if it’s good enough for one trap, it’s good enough for two!!
Thanks gentlemen!! First double ever on coyotes!!

Way to go.

Always and I mean always make at least 2 sets at every location. And there are times when 3 Isn't enough.

Agreed, and the amount of sign will most often tell you how many you should set at any location

Thanks for fixing the pic!
And you guys rock! I’ve learned so much from this site over the last 6 months or so. Things I’d never even think of have worked this winter. One of the coyotes yesterday came off a double dirthole set that looked like a cartoon face, lol. And on top of that I had a turkey feather with some polyfil tied inline above it just for some contrast. On one of the other catches it was what I heard described as a blended dirthole set. Just sets I’ve heard about on here I decided to try and they work. Finally starting to feel like I’m pulling my weight, so to speak.

Caught coyote #5 for the week this morning. A huge male! He came off a set I had caddy corner from where I caught the first coyote Tuesday morning. I honestly was wondering if that set was still functional. It had sat for 12 days before being paid a visit. I went back and reset outside the catch circle this evening hoping another might come wandering through. The cold snap we had and no moon apparently had them moving.

Keep the variety in your sets. Dont get into a rut of making every set the same. And mix your lures and baits up too.

You will keep catchin' em!

Congrats on success!

Third critter in this set. Caught the big male last Friday, reset outside the catch circle and caught a possum Sunday, then this young male this morning. Was really worried after we got 1.2” of rain yesterday evening in about 45 minutes.
