I'm confused about the dates.

According to the flyers - both March 16 and March 18 are on a Saturday.

Maybe did some one forget to update a flyer from a previous year.

Thanks.

Looking for some nice big fuzzy raccoons? They are rare in Alaska, but I happen to know that there will be some in this sale!

Be the first one on your block to have a "Daniel Boone" cap!

Pete

Well JR , Pete and the rest of you folks where are some pictures from the sale and the dinner tonight.
It'll be interesting to read who will be the high bidder on the ivory trap, for those of you who have fur in the sale I wish you well during the auction even the big fuzzy raccoons that will be perfect for making a hat !
I've sent snares once again for the auction made from 1x19 cable with a kill spring that have helped save the set locations by quick and humanly dispatching the target animal.
Stay Safe and enjoy the weekend !
Allan

Allan: I won your snares in the bucket raffle....!

I was afraid to even move (lest my movement be interpreted as a bid....) during the bidding on Chuck's carved ivory trap. It ended up bringing $3,600.

Pete I'm glad you were successful on winning those snares I'm glad to donate them to the ATA I'll have to figure out something to send along with the snares for next years fling.
How's things selling in the fur auction ? I'd like some day to get some grizzly bear claws but they sell for a premium price I'm sure.
Allan

Happy to report the annual ATA Trappers Fur auction and Spring Fling went over well. Fast paced auction with our great auctioneer that comes up from Montana every year. Sold a little over 700 pieces of fur, hides and antler Saturday and Sunday. I'd like to thank all the volunteers who helped out with the auction, our local business' who donated the trailers and pa equipment along with the local trappers who put fur in the auction. We couldn't do any of this without you all. Our organizaiton takes 10% of the sales and puts this back into the funds to help fight for our trapping and outdoor passions. Busy time so I didn't get to take many pics during the day but here's a couple that I got sent to me. Feel free to post any if you were there. [Linked Image]

This is our ATA Trapper of the Year winner. Mr Danny Grangaard. This nomination was long overdue in my opinion as this man has done a tremendous amount for the organization and wolf trapping. I couldn't even begin to guess how many moose, caribou and sheep this man has saved by killing over a thousand wolves himself. Congratulations Danny and Thank you for all you've done.[Linked Image]

I remember Danny and his family from The time I was stationed in Tok.

Nice guy and fun to be around. He let me try his Trap gun one day at the range, and gave me a few pointers.

I remember a Wolf video on VHS that he did. I would love to get a copy of.

Very good choice of a Trapper to honor.

Thank you JR for the pictures of the auction that's a nice variety of fur , hides and horns offered.
I agree with Horn although I've never met Danny I've listened to and read some of his thoughts on wolf trapping and wolves in general what a great wealth of knowledge he has.
I see you brought back some of the water from the spring you found while sheep hunting from the looks of the picture's good to see those young adults with you helping out at the sale too .
I feel you all deserve a big thank you for a job well done leading up to and throughout the auction and banquet and keeping trappers and trapping viewed in a positive light .
Allan
