You mentioning that you messed it up skinning it made me remember my first beaver. it was over 50 pounds and I clean skinned up one side, then the other. As I went to finish the little bit left in the epicenter of the pelt, I of course cut a big hole in it! I still had it tanned and was so happy with it until the leather fell apart because apparently the tannery did not leave it in the neutralizer long enough. I still smile wide thinking about the catch though.
