I have a cage trap set up for raccoons baited with marshmallows, an oatmeal cookie and Fruit Loops so as to NOT attract a cat.

In the video, the neighbor's cat looked like it would have walked right in if there was something more to it's liking.

Are cats in the wild this curious?

The answer is yes.

A very good friend of mine in Nevada catches 100-140 a year and he is 69 -70 this year.
If cats are there they can be caught fairly easy .

All in exposed sets as well. Cats are not tough to outsmart. The toughest part about cats is they are.....well.....a cat. One minute they are curious, the next minute they don’t care. One day they might see a flag and walk right up to it, the next day they might stand 20 yards away from it and stare for hours. One day they want to check out scent, the next day they don’t care. Don’t have to worry about them like coyotes. They don’t care if there is human scent, an exposed trap, small cage trap. It’s what makes them fun.

Interesting! Thanks. I would have never figured that a wild cat could be so cocky!

And if a butterfly flies by all bets are off as well.
Good post, totally agree, have seen all the same.
