Anybody ever see a discharge like this on a beaver ? Thinking it may have recently birthed a litter or about to.

Didn't open it up due to rolling the edge on my knife removing casyor and trying to remove the tail on another beaver. I left both of them on site but will take a further look if something didn't drag them off overnight. Due to flooded roads and such they're a half mile from where I park the ATV.

I've never seen that. Was the beaver lactating. At least that would let you know If It was a female and had just given birth.

I would've guessed that too. If not I would have gone with female in heat. I know a lot of animals give off a bloody discharge when in heat.

So, this talk of lactating makes me wonder: are beavers less likely than coon to tear a nipple when fleshing? Is that due to anatomy or being skinned open? Thanks

If you catch a nipple on a beaver it will tear just like any other critter. The hole wont be huge but it will open up if you hit one.
