A weeks or two ago, a friend emailed me a couple pictures of what appear to be mountain lion tracks (we think) in the Wrangell Mountains in the Copper River Valley of Alaska. I've never actually seen cougar tracks before, so I thought I'd post these here and see what the folks on this forum who live in mountain lion country think about these tracks. All I know for sure is that they are not lynx or wolf tracks. The guy who took these pictures claims he saw it momentarily, and thought that it was probably a cougar, but couldn't get a picture fast enough. There have been rumors flying around these parts for years of mountain lion sightings here or there, but no one seems to ever get a picture, or catches one. ADF&G in Glennallen says they have never officially documented a mountain lion in this area. What do you think?

Looks like a lion to me. Young tom from the size of the track. Unless he is a dispersal looking for new territory he will be back in 7 to 10 days.
