I am looking online for information on aquiring a forest lease. I can not find a thing about where to start. It has been a passion of mine my whole life to run a line in our northern forest. I farm 20 miles south of the forest. I would like to follow up on this dream to run a line.

Anyone know where to start looking and the process to get a lease? There is simply no info I can find. Making me crazy. Surely there are leases available?

I hope so. It does seem like a very secretive and on the down low kind of endeavour.

You sure can. Seems like a big bloody secret, yet there must be empty traplines all over the place in this day n age. No one young wants to work anymore, must be available lines?

Keep us posted ! Sounds like an interesting process that the rest of us down here wouldn’t be privy to .

Golf ball. It seems we up here within 20 miles of the fur conservation area aren’t even privy to it. I have heard rumours of how many of the lines are leased and then guys hunt moose from their cabins, or they lease them for an excuse to put up a cabin or hunting shack.

I thought these lines HAD to be trapped or you lose the lease? Things like this make me crazy. I am going to talk to the sask trapper association and see what gives.

I am close enough to run a line on weekends pretty much.

Saskayote I would think with all the wilderness you folks got up there it would be easy to grab an unclaimed line. I could also see that a multitude of trappers may be laying in the weeds for a few years waiting for prices to come back up .

Good luck bud. Happy trapping.

You may think before you act. The question is did you listen to your own council?
