Anyone ever do this on a regular basis? I’ve caught several by the foot over the years but just assumed that a critter before the one I caught knocked the snare down and then the one I caught stepped in it and it pulled on down and got him. Just thought it would be another tool for the wise ones if I could figure it out. I’ve played with it in the edge of the water some, but no real regular positive results. Thanks for any help. Mark

P.S. I know that foot snares aren’t legal in AR but I trap different States every year so please skip the lecture on AR laws! Thanks

I think the misses would out weigh any catches. Seems like a lot of screwing around trying to set up for a hind foot catch.
And It probably wouldn't be fair to the beaver.

Didn’t seem too hard on the ones I foot snared by accident.

I would think a snare submerged about 9-10" with an 8-9" loop offset to the center of a run might work catching a hind foot as they paddle on the surface.

I was trying to figure out how to do it regularly. I have to deal with a lot of beaver jobs where they have seen it all and some are even smart to trail snares. I wouldn’t mess with it if I was just fur trapping. Tony, we’ll talk about it at the next EAFT get together. I’m getting closer to getting it figured out, just thought someone might speed things along for me.
