Gotta feeling this is going to be an interesting thread to follow.

Nafa should only be available to Canadians. Americans can sell to groeny.
Any Americans that had coons at NAFA already sold to groeny. They just weren't aware they'd be sold for peanuts.

They probably made a deal with groaney. It was costing NAFA too much handling the lower quality US fur in todays market,so they will concentrate on the more valuable Canadian fur and let groany have the American fur. Good business decision.

Well crap.....more bad news for us southern fur trappers. I'm sure most northern fur agents still have a job.

Here is the email

Dear Producer, Today is a difficult day at NAFA as we have had to let go members of NAFA staff who were our close friends and colleagues. I am informing you of this as these staff members include some of our North American solicitors.
We are well aware that the entire fur industry has been under considerable adverse pressure for the last couple of years. Mink consignment volumes are currently falling dramatically and market prices for our goods remain at unprofitable levels across all facets of the trade. NAFA has obviously not been immune to the business realities and hardships occurring all across our industry. Although we have done better than many of our competitors in recent times, it was time for us to take action in this regard. My first obligation must be to help the Company navigate through these difficult economic times and in doing so, protect nearly 350 years of NAFA heritage. It also means ensuring the ongoing economic viability of the Company, our corporate mission and our ability to continue to service our customers for years to come. Finally, I am trying to set the Company up for what I believe is the best possibility of future success. This is the only way that I know to return our business to the path of growth and profitability while protecting the jobs/financial health of all remaining NAFA employees and stakeholders. Your solicitor will reach out to you in the coming days. In the meantime, should you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us. Thank you for your understanding.

Why swampwolf I seen posts on here that most of you guys bailed on nafa as groaney was getting you better money for your fur.Why should they keep paying their solicitors if they aren't getting them any fur?

All fur sold. Cheques from NAFA and FHA already in the bank. Any straggling late winter/early spring fur will go on next years winter sale.Like I said-its the poor fur they cant sell.I think they are tired of dealing with it.(costs them).

You are correct. Some of us did turn to Groeny. Not a bad decision either, but I hate to see market competition lessen. Not good for competitive pricing and our southern fur will feel the depression a lot longer than fur that swims in ice and walks thru snow.

I don't blame you for selling your fur where you get the best price,I would too. I don't blame them either for cutting costs where they don't get fur anymore.

I'm just wondering if I'll live long enough to see an increased demand for fur again. At nearly 55 ...it dont look like it.
