How old do coins need to be to actually be worth anything? I have a pile of coins from the 40's-60"s. Are they really worth hanging onto?
I have nothing clever to put here.

As said, 64 was the last silver minting. Other than that buffalo nickels, Indian heads, wheat pennies etc have more valu. Probably others as well, my father was a collector but I never took interest.

Consider how much you could buy with those coins in the 40s and 50s and I would think you would be lucky to get about 1/2 face value today... I guess the dimes will get loaded into 12 gauge shells then. You can do a lot of damage with $2 worth of dimes!

I'm just happy to be here! Today I'm as young as I'll ever be and and older than I've ever been before!

Bad choice cause the chock end of the barrel is smaller than a dime when it comes down the barrel.................kaboom I will look after all the Krugerrands that are in the collection, especially the ones that look like brass.

It's not a coin, but this is my latest addition to my collection. I got it at a gas station. The girl working the register thought it was fake. She had never seen old money. It's barely seen any use for a 1974 I got an early 60's $5 a while back the same way. Actually I think it says "$5 Note" on it.
I have nothing clever to put here.
