Is anyone else giving much thought to stocking up on ammo, magazines and reloading supplies?

And, going ahead and buying that (those) last semi auto(s) that might get banned?

If Trump doesn't win in 2020, we are likely hosed on 2A going forward. Heck, we might be in trouble even if he wins. I don't trust him to take any positive steps to protect or strengthen gun rights. We're just idling at best.

It just feels like something major is coming.

I would buy more traps too.

I stay stocked up. Don't own any ar type guns but I figure someday those evil sniper rifles will be under attack . Probably need an explosives applicator license to buy black powder for your flintlock and the epa will regulate lead completely out of home use or possession. Your favorite 12 gauge will become a military style trench weapon and handguns will be legal only for those who "need" them. You know LE and military.

If SCOTUS doesn't rule all existing firearm laws an infringement in the next few years it aint gonna happen

Walmart had boxes of 40 grain solid lead 22LR for sale the other day in bricks of 1000 rounds at 43 bucks.

Those who would give up essential liberty, to purchase a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety. Benjamin Franklin (1706-1790)

I wonder what that brick will cost this time next year. Or in 2021 if someone like Warren wins or if Trump cuts some deal.

What steps would you like him to take that doesn't circumvent Congress?

I'm always stocking up no matter what. I just can never seem to have enough ammo and reloading supplies. I may have some kind of disorder.

I was in a Walmart the other day and a fella had just bought some ammo, and the clerk had to "escort" the customer out the front door with the ammo. What do you s'pose the reasoning is behind that? So he can't load up his piece and slaughter everyone in the store? Just to appease somebody and make them feel good? Another customer had to stand and wait for the clerk to come back so he could get some ammo also.

I think its common practice to buy your ammo were your going to go on a killing spree. The clerk is there to stop when you start shooting.

I don't think we will lose our guns. If we would, I am no good to my family in jail or dead. Lots of people talk big until it happens. Look how many guns law enforcement confiscated after hurricane Katrina. It happened down there, it can happen to all of us.

Sprung and rusty , I think the logic is you can only fight with 2-3 hide the rest from the regulars by plowing them into the furrows , you know like our forefathers did the night of April 18th into the morning of April 19 1775 , at Col. Barrett's farm outside of Concord Mass,

America only has one issue, we have a Responsibility crisis and everything else stems from it.

Better start collecting copper, too. California has a lead ammo ban going into effect in the next month or so. Could happen elsewhere too.

Say that again when ammo prices go up 300% and hunter numbers go down 25%.

I have no idea how old you are . But here is a true story.

The Hungarian revolt of 1956. I worked with 2 Hungarian guys in the 1960's who had been a part of this revolt. Both were shot up pretty badly but both also told me that at night they would DIG UP weapons buried by their fathers after WW2. They would dig up those weapons at night and kill Russians and then bury them again before daylight.

Sounds like a viable plan to me

Make sure you’re not sitting on the sideline saying, “look at how ammo costs more and hunter numbers are down”

We as the original conservationists should be on the forefront of conservation, lead kills after the shot. Why not be on the side to help stop it? Showing that hunting isn’t the cause? We will be there to help conservation and build hunter numbers. I hope you are a hunter/trapper education instructor or at a minimum you are mentoring someone in becoming an outdoorsman.

I'm all for being on the forefront of conservation, but I'm not in favor of more government intervention/regulation. I can't afford $100/box of ammo if I want to shoot regularly and teach new hunters. We've got more than enough bald eagles in Wisconsin, but our hunter numbers are dwindling. There are plenty of hunters already that only shoot their guns once a year in the week before season and that's the extent of their practice. What will happen if their hunting ammo jumps to $5/round. How many of those hunters won't practice at all? I can tell ya there will be more wounded and unrecovered game, but that's good, because the eagles and vultures are starving to death as it is.

By the way. I believe that is how they will get us. They won’t ban guns, they will make it impossible to get annoying, or reload our own. What use is a firearm if you have nothing to load it with?

The links I posted are about people making the choice to go lead free. I also agree in minimal governmental interference. Non lead ammo really isn’t that much more. And those folks only shooting once or twice before the season. I’m sure their laziness has nothing to do with cost, that is an ethics problem. They weren’t worried about it either way.

I’m glad you are involved in hunter education and mentoring new people. Maybe we will cross paths one day...

Personally I believe the whole "lead is bad" is tantamount to climate change, just another form of control. It's easy and cheap to melt lead and make our own ammo, that's why lead is bad imo.

the ONLY reason we can still arm ourselves is politicians are aware that in many parts of the country it is political suicide to support gun control.

politicians representing districts where gun control is seen as a good thing are aware that free americans are willing to load their firearms and rebel if their right to be armed is no longer recognized by the government

I would hate to be the deputy who is told to disarm the residents of franklin county ks

Those who would give up essential liberty, to purchase a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety. Benjamin Franklin (1706-1790)

Lead leads to chronic poisoning (maybe), iron (steel) leads to acute poisoning. Just saying, there are a lot more cases of iron poisoning yearly than lead.

I asked a County Sheriff at a city council meeting what he would do in event of an attempt to take our guns. He said "I would deputize a lot of people".

Was he implying he'd need more deputies to get all the guns, or that suddenly, by being deputized, most of the people would be LEO's and, as such, able to have them?

S&R sorta has a point . Many on here talk real tough about revolt and defeating tyranny . And yet , i don't believe many know what that entails . Or how dirty it would be .

All fun and games until your wife got blown up for simply shopping at a store . After all , lots of people associate Costco and Whole Foods with west coast lefties. Socialists associate WalMart as the great capitalist Devil. Heck of a day to need produce.

Need fuel ? Suck when supply lines are interrupted . Like having electricity ? Easy to disrupt.

Think about how many people you're willing to watch die . Yourself being killed ? That's an easy decision . How about watching your friends , neighbors, and family ?

Truth, it will cost you your loved ones for an armed revolt; read about the the war between the states if you think other wise.

How will giving up your guns prevent any of this?

I have no idea how old you are . But here is a true story.

The Hungarian revolt of 1956. I worked with 2 Hungarian guys in the 1960's who had been a part of this revolt. Both were shot up pretty badly but both also told me that at night they would DIG UP weapons buried by their fathers after WW2. They would dig up those weapons at night and kill Russians and then bury them again before daylight.

Sounds like a viable plan to me

It is a great plan . For 1956 . With today's technology and knowledge , largely gained from two decades of an insurgency war , it's not nearly as a viable method.
