Just dug up a 5 gal pail of liquid everything from beaver to venison that had been there for about 3 years
sometime ago I added some coyote urine in the mix just for the heck of it..Basically I made buckets of this stuff to use to entice coyotes to stop by and roll or dig at it, which worked well..

Anyways this bucket has a really sweet smell for whatever reason so I went out today and dug holes where coyotes travel and put some down the hole...will see what happens..

I know this is not the normal and I’m sure you all are cringing by now but I’m going to see if it will work for setting for coyote..probably catch a hundred opossums I’m sure but ya never know..

Honestly I think the smell reminds me of a lure or bait I’ve bought..

If this works at all I like to know how to thicken it..it’s liquid I’d like to try and make a thick paste what’s the best way of doing this.?

Why thicken it?....I occasionally make a liquid bait that customers love, just a squirt and the dirt hole absorbs it.

There are thickeners available from Grawes and JR and Sons, but some use corn or blood meal, pectin, glycerin, etc, BUT it weakens the odors, so ya must adjust the quantities.

Mixing urine in with bait sounds unusual.

ever see a dog pee on its food or water bowl? not disgusting to animals. gets them interested. k9's pee on everything. they find a dead rat they don't feel like eating they pee on it. or roll on it then pee on it.

What do yo think is in bait solution? The famous nelson bait calls for urine.

Never meant to be a bait solution..Was bored years ago and thought heck I’m throwing all this meat away after skinning so I chopped it up and put it in several 5 gal buckets to rot down and use it to entice coyotes to stop by and roll in it or whatever and set them areas but not on top of the solution but just outside..
Honestly it worked great for this especially in the winter..

So anyhow I have a few buckets left and it’s been fermenting for about 3 years..the other day I opened one up and thought boy smells pretty good so I went out dug some holes to see how this might be used to put down a hole with a trap in front of it..more less just playing around..I’ll leave the bait making to the experts and use their stuff to put in a hole I’m just having fun..will see

Here is the response I got from this solution and it was about 1 year old at the time..
I soaked a road kill coon hide in this stuff and placed it by a swamp edge where coyotes had been hunting mostly in the interior of the swamp on the ice.. I used it to get them on dry land where I could set easier..
You can see they rolled on the solution..

This was poured out in September...Was amazed the coyote dug this up in December through frozen icy snow..

Basically I’m not afraid to try anything..I know very little about these coyote and they do intrigue me..
I can learn a little bit by doing stuff like this..

Ever throw a road kill deer out, and see what happens when coyotes decide to feed on it.
From my experience they are relentless when their hungry..
Rotted nasty deer they eat it roll in it drag parts through out the woods..
Come back for awhile to check this area out..

On my way to work one day it’s 1pm 80 degrees I noticed a coyote on the edge of the road..
What the heck is he doing, he was rolling on a nasty rotted deer carcass in the ditch..

This solution was made just for that without carrying a deer into the woods..
Just to catch their attention..

Now all I need is to figure out how to trap these dang things..

Since your new I'll cut you some slack but.... I warn you if u keep fooling around with this rotten junk and putting it in front of coyotes to see what their reaction is you may get hooked and end getting into making lure and bait. I won't even get into the obsessive behaviors it can cause you but according to my wife most are really bad!! Lol .. don't say I didn't warn you. Have fun and keep letting those coyotes teach you.

Thanks Tony

Yes sir thanks for the slack
I’m just messing around I’m bored nothing to hunt right now

One thing I’ve noticed over the years of being in the woods is that some coyotes for whatever reason always stop by a stinky animal

It is fun to see what reactions you get out of them
Sure it’s not a good plan to use this stuff on the line but maybe
this might work for a set or two. 99.99% of my sets are used with
a bait or lure from a true maker of.

I’m glad your doing your own part in making baits and lures
sure it’s addicting and fun. I’m sure it’s gratifying to make a
catch on your own lure or bait.

Just so you know I was joking about the "rotten junk" as that's what my wife calls all my stuff. Remember if your getting positive reactions your headed in the right direction.

i leave gutted ground hogs in the bottom of my trapping fridge to slow taint then bury them on my line a few weeks before season! Its never failed to draw in yotes yet! Nasty fish juice is a excellent draw as well. Yotes will go miles out of there way to roll in that nasty stuff.! Apparently its the new polo to yotes or for older guys stetson

Yup I figured it was a joke..

My wife made a stink about it so I buried the buckets..
Every time there is a smell or rotten smell in the air she ask, are you up to something again..
Why no..
