Tons of springs get scrapped daily, but that's different because traps are special lol.

They will weaken from rust far sooner than what you call creep.
And like I said, unless you remove the springs from the trap each season(and no one does that) they are stored under compression-no affect at all on the strength of the springs for trapping.
The weak springs on your series 1 victors was from repeated use(old traps),not from being stored with the springs compressed.
I have some old BMI's and victors that have weak springs from repeated use.The springs were not made as good as LDL's.I have LDL's that are 30 years old, used every year, and some stored with the springs compressed and the springs on all are still as strong as new ones I bought last year. They are waxed and don't rust.

Forget that fear of gravity-get a little savagery in your life.

So, you all remove the springs from the BGs before storing them each season?

It's something I would not have thought of, but of course my knowledge is admittedly limited by what I don't know,

Beav, my question was directed at those who think compression kills the springs. I should also ask if they remove the springs from their magazines for storage, those are also partially compressed when empty.
I agree with Boco, as I posted above fatigue is most likely to be the death this type of spring, rather than deformation but rust is right up there too.

And dry fire every gun when you store it so the spring is relaxed.

And every spring from EVERY trap. They are all under some compression, long springs, coils springs, etc.

I have mouse traps set for months on end that are years old. Still killing mice with them.

I can unload the springs, without removing them, by turning one end around the corner if I wanted to. Pretty sure mine were boxed new that way. The trap makers must have missed the tman briefing. Big whoop they're only tools.

To the OP, yikes running a 100 or more 330s at once. Beaver Skinners wanted lol.

I was taught to dry fire every gun at the end of the day. Maybe that is why my grandfathers' guns are still good after 100 years. I was also told "take care of your tools and they will take care of you" & "The lazy way is not always the best way".

Having the safety hooks locked on compressed springs would make storage nicer. Loose they are always catching on something when traps are stacked in crates. I'm sure spring life is also greatly contingent on the quality of the spring steel in them.

I've learned enough thru the years to now know that I don't know enough. KNOWLEDGE IS FREEDOM.

No Marine would ever think that way. That's why we are Marines.
But I did get a chuckle out of your response. Thank you for your service.
