Yeah, socialists suck big time, but I like driving on their interstate roads and it's neat to use their internet. The very electricity that powers this computer and cooks my breakfast is socialist subsidized and controlled.

I think most farmers would gladly forgo the subsidies if the gov would just stay out of the markets. But I guess even from the time of Joseph in Egypt it will still continue as long as cheap food is a policy for votes. I can still hear the words "plant fence row to fence row the world needs the food" and only a short time later "the Russians are coming". Then to see the demise of the family farm. That's how people are forced into subsidies. And the Russians came anyway just in a different way in only a generation. Now its a fight to get it back.

Or if you want to look at it a different way you could force people on medicaid by fining them for not having insurance, if they are on the borderline of what someone called the poverty line. And once they are in there is not much incentive to get back out. Yes the Russians came and its a fight to get it back.

Originally, SS was designed to do two things:
Provide income if a worker lived to retirement age or pay lost wages if you became disabled prior to retirement. Over the years, the SS system has been raped, to put it mildly. Now, it covers a myriad of additional items that was never the intent. No wonder SS is struggling to survive!

The worst thing they ever started was welfare and food stamps. I remember when my dad retired in 1980 he retired at 62 due to health reasons , we lived on $500 a month for 2 years and I was still in jr. high and a sister just graduated. I had to go to store for mom when this big caddie pulled up the man an woman were dress to kill , ring on every finger , bought high priced steaks and food , paid with food stamps. To this day I can't stand those type of people. I also was a bag boy and ran cash register , would have to cash a $5 food stamp on a 5 cent piece of bubble gum , give them change back so they could buy cigarettes. My mom and dad wouldn't take welfare , we grew abig garden , mom canned her butt off , raised 50 head of chickens , had geese and such , not one time did they go sign up for welfare. My wife is a kindergarten teacher and I'm a part time custodian and we see people that has better stuff than we do and they're on welfare . I know some of you will tell me , I could get a better job , well my wife didn't want our boys to go to daycare , so I took a part time evening job , plus I make extra money on side line and BTW nobody would hire me now , with my back. I have stag 2 deterioration of the spine , spurs on spine , pinched nerves and everything else , but I still work.

I also do not see joining the military as a duty unless the country is actually under threat, example being 9/11 and Al queda. I tend to disagree with most U.S foreign intervention and do not think it corresponds with our freedom.

When it bottoms out its gonna get real ugly, I plan to head for the hills for 3-4 months when the shtf.
