We have had the black headed buzzards for years, and yes they will kill...
Not only calves, but sheep and goats as well...
There needs to be a season on them... year round, no bag limit...
Good Luck and God Bless you and yours,

Even sheep are smart enough to shade up when it gets over 100....

I believe they can be taken care of by the department of USDA wildlife services if anyone has livestock losses due to them. Did you read the article? Under a depredation permit the farmer and/or his agent can handle it. There's lots of us out here in that business. USDA WS is a taxpayer subsidized rogue agency competing with the private sector.

No, I didn't waste my time reading the article. I just seen the theme about being federally protected and knew that USDA WS could get permits to help with certain critters. As far as WS services competing with the private sector I don't see that happening out here. They don't solicit for jobs they are contacted by the party. A certain county or state doesn't even have to contract with them. There's a lot of areas out here that WS isn't even contracted or used. Certain counties out here contract with WS to even out the cost for the ranchers because it's assistance they ask the commissioner's for.

Wonder if there is some way of getting rid of Wildlife Services? Anybody have a thought on this? Or at least pressuring them.

Had Black Heads kill small coons and possums in traps and mess up deer feeders.. There ever where down here, be 50 of em eating on a dead rat in the road and won't get out of your way. Feds can't even get bird management right and people want to turn Heath Care over to them. I sure hope you are kidding. I would have sped up to see how many I could hit. It's one of the few legal ways you can kill them.
