The CDR is the best beaver foothold I've used. Only complaint is spring strength and lack of levers makes setting over the knee impossible but that's inherent in all wire lever traps.
I have not handled the WCS third generation version, yet, and can't speak to how they compare to my first generation CDRs. I do hope Alan corrected the flaws of the second generation traps.

Very nice trap... used it on several jobs and they have performed very well.

The original CDR’s were (in my opinion) the best out of the box beaver trap ever made. Only trap I have ever bought I didn’t have to work on!! The Bridger is a great beaver trap also but I always upgrade the chain and swivel set up on them.
