Hey everyone I’ve got a bucket full of aged pork fat that I would like to put to use. Got it from a butcher and it has been setting around for about a year with preservative in it. It is slightly tainted but not rotten at all. Was wonderin if I could possibly render it down into some kind of lure base or if I should just make bait out of it. Any advice would be appreciated. Also one idea I had was to make it into cat lure by rendering it into a more lure form and adding catnip oil. Just ideas but would like to get it used.

I'd start by putting a sample of it in front of some critters and seeing what they do. IMO a lure base that is not in itself attractive to the target critter is just filler.

X2. My thoughts exactly. No reason to use a base that doesn't provide an attraction when there are good bases that add to the formulation
