Best thing about trapping is chemistry, do it ur way and enjoy ur trapping Modern canvas is usually made of cotton or linen, although historically it was made from hemp. It differs from other heavy cotton fabrics, such as denim, in being plain weave rather than twill weave. Canvas comes in two basic types: plain and duck. The threads in duck canvas are more tightly woven. Horse manure contains grass and grain fibers, minerals, shed cells, fats, water, and sand or grit, depending on the type of soil the hay or grass was growing in. About 3/4 of the total weight of manure is water. https://www.thesprucepets.com/horse-manure-facts-1887394

Landscaping cloth comes in different thicknesses, I use the thickest . No odor , dries quick too. Available at Menards

I’ve never used any kind of pad or cloth. Get in, set quick, kick extra dirt around, leave. If you think that pad is the difference between a coyote smelling you or not then you’re fooling yourself. All you have to do is walk through an area and they’ll know. I’ve never had a problem catching coyotes just kneeling on the ground and setting barehanded.
If it gives you confidence then by all means do it, I’m just saying the whole human scent thing is way overthought IMO

I don't set bare handed cause ive pulled to many sand burrs, cactus and hedge thorns out of them. I bait and lure barehanded. my kneeling cloth is the knees of my Carhart bibs. I just toss em in the washer time to time. I skin a lot as I go. Pull the hide down a bit the grab the base of the tail and put my knee in there. use my weight to peel that coyote down to the front legs. I think that fat under a coyotes hide makes my kneeling cloth work good.
