Get Charles Dobbin’s Modifications to the Foot Hold Trap. It explains modifications VERY well and has lots of pictures.

I’ve modified lots of 1.5 coilsprings. Not really needed for the kind of trapping I do. In the end, I would have been hours and dollars ahead by buying Sleepy Creeks (then) or No BS 1.5 coils (now).
