This came up on Tman a couple years ago. Its important to let it swing in the current. I’m of the impression the beaver will be alive when you get to it so the snare should be tied to something pretty solid, including trees on the bank

Never too old to learn

I haven't found a lure reliable enough for nutria . No muskrats around here.

If it makes a track on this earth , I can catch it.

It can be setup as lethal or non lethal. If simply staked or tied off, it should be alive. If set with the right entanglement, it’ll be a lethal set. Snare KPs are excellent for lethal sets, but someone could create an entanglement setup other ways if they’re creative

Cool idea. Another tool in ones arsenal.

Someone on here taught me to use floating logs/limbs about 10 yrs ago, with an 8 ft log ya can hang 2 snares on each side. Shorter logs I only hang one snare on each side.

I guess if I couldn't find a log that'd float I'd tote a torpedo around though.

You may think before you act. The question is did you listen to your own council?

Dad taught me about the floating log for a support in fluctuating water conditions. He showed it in his Open Water Beaver Trapping video also.
