How much smoke oil should I add to a quart of fish based bait? I want the smoky smell, I just don't want it to overpower the smells of everything else. Thanks for any help.

Only you can decide that. Anyone here know what else is in your bait or lure? Oils vary in strength depending on where you get it from. Base and added ingredients will also play a role in determining how much to add. Best course of action would be to add small amounts and let it sit then repeat until it holds the odor you're looking for. I wouldn't just add X amount of anything...baby steps.

Tdhp,
Thanks for the candid reply. I was hoping for a starting point but you are right...... Many variables. I'll start slow and just see where I end up. Adam

^^ and it depends how strong your oil is, since it varies from vendor to vendor.

sooooooooo, I'd add 1/2 tsp, mix well, let sit a few days, then see how it smells.

If you cannot smell any, I'd add another 1/2 tsp and try again.

But just remember just cause you cant smell dosnt mean an animal can't. You dont want it to over power your set. I'd start in small amounts and test and up it til you get the results you like.

EXACTLY, you can always add more, but can't take it out once added.

Maybe work with only part of the base that way if it gets too strong you can add more base to it. That's what I do. Work in small batches until you know what the animals like.
