Used the 14's for beaver here when they were legal, now use the 4's.The No.2 jump was just about the best 'rat trap I ever used.

when I was a kid, I could buy 2- 1 1/2 jumps for the price of a 1 1/2 victor coil. many a red and grey fox gave up the pelt to them on a log set .lighter than the coils, more could be put in the rucksack. I walked everywhere back then!

I wrote to Sleepy Creek a few years ago asking if there was any chance of them considering manufacturing jumps again. She said before her dad died he had a lot of ideas.I took that to mean he was thinking about it,but things happened and that was that.Alot of guys nowdays don't think much of the jump design and when you compare them to modern day coil springs they have a point. But contrary to a lot of their beliefs these traps caught a lot of fur in their time, men like Herb Lenon and his son Asa used them predator trapping, and of course beaver trappers with their beloved 14 jumps.

Not really a fan. I never could see what they could do that a coilspring didn't do better. But it was probably using a bunch of #1 jumps one year that soured me on them. They would hold coon, mink and rats just fine, but too many sprung traps...
Right now I’m having amnesia and déjà vu at the same time. I think I’ve forgotten this before.

I've heard this complaint before, maybe I was just lucky, maybe I bedded my traps different,I never noticed where I had more sprung traps. When using them for coyotes and 'cats I had problems with the pan and dog,the pan in particular. After a coyote catch the pans always seem to loosen up considerably and very sloppy.I've been told either the Miles trigger or PIT pans installed improves this trap considerably. As for beaver,I had far more success with the 14's and 4 jumps than I ever did with No.4 longsprings.I own about 50 No'4 Jumps and don't hesitate to go beaverin with them.

I have a bunch of 1.5s and 1s I use for rats and mink. They work.
Money cannot buy you happiness, but it can buy you a trapping license and that's pretty close.
