Is it worth the hassle of remaking deer tripped sets or best to skip its use in high deer populated areas?

Is say stand it back up. Atleast until you find where they avoid. There are holes in their network. Lol
You may think before you act. The question is did you listen to your own council?

I look at remakes as the goal rather than a hassle.
In my experience once a deer satisfies his curiosity he usually leaves it be. Now if 40 different deer are coming into contact with your sets.... I have stopped using lure or pee at times because of them.
I need to say that I have no experience trapping in spring or summer.

I know there are benefits of using urine at sets. I'm just wondering if the increase in catch using urine per trap night offsets deer tripped sets per trap night. Trying to pin point the best places to use or avoid urine use. Going to try and keep better notes on this during the trapping season.

Man I'd like to hear more about play tricks on other deer .
Guys that had penned deer taught me things.
One thing for sure, they sure cause trouble.

Set enough traps in the general location to begin with... If the deer population is pretty high you can expect 1-2 traps popped the first couple of nights. Remake em... The benefits of using urine greatly outweigh the 1-2 snapped traps per week from deer even in heavily deer populated areas on my line. I'll add to these that if I set near but not in the travel path, I seem to have less deer trouble than if I set 20' from the trail; i think the deer sniffs while standing in it's normal path and goes on, but if going off track to investigate always manages to step on the trap. I like to take the target just one or two (target animal sized) steps off the path if possible. Some face guiding might help place the deer too?

Tjm I've wondered if there are ways to coax a deer to step other places than the trap without effecting predator foot placement. I know a person will always have to deal with deer, cows, etc. being attracted to the salt in urine but it sure would be nice to minimize contact. Especially for those of us who check before work and are constantly in a hurry during the work week.

The benefits of using urine greatly outweigh the 1-2 snapped traps per week from deer even in heavily deer populated areas on my line. I decided to try last season with no urine on my fox/coyote line due to deer messing with my sets. Setting all the same locations I doubled any catch number I had in the last 5 years and wasnt remaking near as many sets. Is it solely the fact I didn't use urine, absolutely not, theres other variables but I dont think it's as important as most think. Just my opinion from my experiences

Just dogs being dogs. Nothing more nothing less.

Right now I’m hardly having any issues whatsoever. But, now that I’m thinking about it, I’m setting in the middle of the two tracks with deer tracks walking the lanes and no tripped traps. And the ones I have pics of deer gang banging the set was off the beaten path and they would come in to investigate. Sometimes I guess the answer is right there in front of us and we just need someone to point it out! Thanks!!

I would rather deal with a remake from a deer than a possum at least the set is still in decent shape when a deer trips it. Neighbor had a cool pic of a deer in the air with its back all arched up like a bucking horse after it hit one of my flat sets J

As others have stated, gang set , that way there's more sets working even if a deer fires one or 2 or 3 .. bedding your traps closer to the attraction helps a bunch too. In fact I have fewer misses at urine sets with the pan at 4-6 inches.
Common sense catches alot of fur.. Pay homage to all you harvest..
