I'm thinking of self tanning a squirrel TAIL (a red, a gray, and a fox squirrel) for display in a sports room. What's the trick to prepping/tanning a squirrel tail?

Make sure you split it all the way down to the tip carefully with a sharp thin bladed knife, then paste tan it.

Make a paste with your tanning solution(using flour, bran, sawdust, etc) and spread it on from the leather side.
Normally two or three applications are made with the old one being scraped off first.Cover the paste with plastic to keep from drying out between applications, except the last one which is left uncovered to dry.
Then rinse and finish like any other tan.
