Some great days in South Dakota to make waxed dirt! The humidity is a little high but the 95 degree temperatures and sun more than make up for it!

How many pounds of dirt do you got there, and how many pounds of wax?

Those each have a 5 gallon bucket of dirt on them. I kind of just guess on the wax. I sprinkle some on top, let it melt and then mix it really good. Then I add more as needed and repeat. I used around 50 pounds of wax to do 70 gallons of dirt. Lawdog gave me a good idea to use pocket gopher dirt so I am giving that a try this year. Works well if you have a bright sunny day with no wind and temps in the 90's. High 80's don't seem to be able to get it done!

Made 30 gallons these past few days. Heat index was over 100 each day. I did mine 6 gallons at a time in black concrete mixing tubs covered with clear plastic. Worked better than under the truck tonneau for the hobby lobby wax I used. Probably got a little hotter under the solar plastic and hit that wax melting point better.
Will make more at next hot weather stretch.

I have some cooking too today. I do it just about like jabNE. I have not made any since I moved 4 or 5 years ago. But if the sun is blazing hot and you have some black tubs or pans its way too easy. I just gotta make sure to cool it down before I put it in my plastic sacks lining a 55 gal barrel. Czech days are coming up and it's always super hot then (usually).

Glad to see everyone taking advantage of the hot weather to get at least one thing accomplished!

Got to make hay in summer, so to speak.
Czech days...what memories. I grew up there (Wilber).
