Well If I was picked I haven't been notified. I have never been very lucky so I'm not holding my breath.
If I get picked will you help pack It out?

I heard we would have known by now if we were drawn.
So I guess it's on to round 2: the RMEF raffle opportunity.

The central Wi herd is losing a number of elk on I-94. An article on the front page of the paper a few weeks back said at least 5 elk have been killed on the interstate. There's talk of putting up a tall fence. Luckily no people have been seriously injured.

They've been doing pretty well around Jackson County, but on the flip side they've largely left the area of the county the state wants them in. They figured out how to get away from the core wolf area, and have taken a liking to farm country.

Saw a car elk accident in Colorado when travelling. That was gruesome to view. The smaller car hit a cow elk on the interstate and with the size of the elk the car hit about the top of the legs and the body of the elk crashed through the windshield and was laying in the front seat. I never heard the status of the injuries but it did not look good from what I could see.

If the elk move the predators will as well. I am sure that the farmers will not like having the large carnivores more present then they already are. Then on the other hand the more predators in populated and agriculture areas and creating social capacity issues the more likely we will see the harvest bans lifted. Sometimes we make progress by taking a step or two back. Also If the DNR and the other foundations and agencies behind the elk movement in WI may be helpful in getting some seasons and harvests for predators.

They are cool to have around, but I don't like how they seem to lack fear of roads. About 7 have gotten hit in Jackson Co, most of them on I-94. They're proposing a fence along the interstate in the eastern half of the county, but now elk are occasionally along I-94 on the west side of the Black River.
