Just trying to get a idea how you guys are lugging your gear around. I have 2 places i can use my 4 wheeler and intend on doing so. But i have a few other places i will need to hoof it in. I was thinking about using my deep Otter brand ice fishing sled but without some snow I think it will be difficult. I just bought a bunch of trapping stuff off a guy and he gave me a old army pack with a 5 gallon bucket hooked on it that will work for some stuff as well. What do you use?

I use a backpack designed for field medics in the military. Lots of little pockets for all sorts of gear, a good frame to carry the weight comfortably, and easy access to everything even with gloves on.

I use a cheap lunch box with the plastic tub inside. Dry / waxed dirt in the tub with sifter and trowel on top of dirt. Everything else goes in the little pouches on the sides. It has a shoulder strap and that's nice

Been thinking that through myself. Lets say your going to be carrying alot of weight. Even with a hand full of traps. I swear this is what disposable stakes were created for. I got my system up to a hypothetical 4-5 traps a day by carrying them in. That can very by how fit and strong you claim to be. Metal adds up quick.

I use a packbasket and buckets

One thing about it - the farther the walk, the more streamlined your gear gets. I have gone in early and cached rebar stakes, could of cached traps also since very few humans would walk into these places. My suggestion would be - Know what and where you want to make sets, get your gear down to the basics.

I use one of those two wheeled deer carts on places I cant drive into. It is a little clumsy in the woods, but it really shines when toting animals back out to the truck. Mine is the old Cabela's Super Mag Hauler, Cabela's doesn't carry them anymore, but they can still be found on Amazon.

That Otter sled might surprise you even without snow, they tend to pull fairly well, especially with the runners you can get for them. Know a guy that uses one without snow for retrieving animals, hikes in with backpack and the sled.

I use a collapsible wagon (heavy duty one) it has thick 2 inch wide wheels max with holding weight is 150# so you can get a lot in there and it pulls easy and compact during storage. Only down fall is its not to good when you have snow on the ground then i use a sled. My lines are both hoof-in and drive-up. I've found the Loring pack basket serves both functions very well. They are indestructible and light. They live up to their reputation, and the owner of the company is a trapper himself.

Construction Tool bag from Lowes for bout $20..1 for land and another for water trapping.
it has 10 outside pockets and a large 1 inside and shoulder strap or handles.
I use shoulder strap ALOT more than handles.

I use tool bags too. 1 for remakes 1 for when setting my traps. 1 for snaring. Everything fits in.

Get permission at a few other places where you can use the atv. Scrap the walk in farms. There is not enough time during trapping season.

For fields I'm not able to drive into I use the little red wagon with the bigger rubber tires on it. Other than that a Lowe's bucket with a smaller white bucket bolted to it for baits and lure in one hand and tool bag in the other does the trick.

I have a fiber pack like the one above I dont use it. I do carry a 2.5 or 5 gallon bucket with me too.

Heavy canvas canoe pack with a good tump strap.Can carry a pile of traps and setting equipment and can carry out 4 or 5 beaver if you have the ability (strong back).
