Got a call today about something making noise on a screen in a basement. There was a window well 4 foot wide, by 3 foot deep by 2 foot hi. Had a 1/2 by 1/2 hardware cloth slanted to keep animals out. The window screen had holes the size of nickels about ever 3 inches on the top, two the same size on the bottom. One side cut down side about the width of a pencil. There were no signs of chewing any place. There was some loose places in the hardware cloth. Like I said got me stumped, and ideas? No is was not by a pig caster tool! LOL

What do the neighbors seem like? Honestly sounds more human than animal.Maybe it'll stop when school starts back. Or you could just zip tie the neighbors kids and drop them on the porch collect and leave.

Just to hard of a place to get to for kids. One thing I did not mention, there was a small tree frog between the screen and the glass.

Just a bad place to set up a camera! Because what ever it is must be very small. Would be very hard to see anything. Outside of the tree frog there is no reason to chew etc. on the screen. The frog is only the size of a dime.

Sounds like mouse sized holes.

The holes are about that size, but there were 8 along the top of the screen and 2 at the bottom and a cut on the one side about 10 inches long. There was nothing on the other side of the screen but the tree frog. That is what makes it so odd.

Maybe something trying to get at the frog?

Those tree frogs can be quite noisy at night. We have some here at times and I am surprised at the vocal sound and how far you can hear it when it is quiet at night.

Frogs can be a food source for some birds and animals as well. I am suspecting something may have been after the frog and did some damage in its attempt to get at it. Skunks and coon eat them when available.

Mice often as mentioned will chew thru screens but I usually only find a hole or two. Once they establish entry they don't usually keep chewing new holes. Sounds as if there was an attraction of some kind to invite interest in accessing something in that area.
