I keep my urine in a dark area in my basement?
How long would you keep urine and feel it is good to use and not do harm at your set?

If your worried it's bad. Test it before season.
That will give you the answer. Is I should say, the animals will give you the answer

Sunlight is what's hard on urine. I've had urine in a garage that heats up to 90 degrees during the summer out of the sunlight and it does just fine. If it smells like sewer chuck it. If it smells like ammonia just let it gas off before you let it rip.

Yep store it out of sunlight and it seems to still work well year after year if carryover.

Money cannot buy you happiness, but it can buy you a trapping license and that's pretty close.

What's more important than knowing if it's "bad" is knowing if it's good.

Like mentioned before if it smells like sewage pitch it. Good urine collected from animals that are only meat feed will last season to season if stored in a dark semi cooled spot. Just open the lid and let it air off for about a hour before using next season. Now if it is collected poorly were there is anything floating around in there such as dirt or fecies it will be junk no matter how you store it.

Nnnnnnt. Doesn't have to be COOL and dark to be effective, unless 100 degrees is cool. But what do I know. Maybe that is the disclaimer for selling bad urine to begin with.

I store it in the shed or in the cellar and no problems for the years I have it. Till I use it up. I keep it out of the sun light. Like stated that if it smell like sewer then it is not good , If it is like stated of open the lid you are ok.

I will admit I only occasionally have some carryover season to season. Generally I only buy pints and it's about enough what I buy anyway.
I use bobcat, fox, and mink urine on my coyote line.
Not sure why but years ago I started switching away from coyote urine and seemed to do better with the other species urines at post sets for coyotes. No clue why. Now it's just habit of what I buy and use. Something different from everyone else around, I guess.
I store mine in sealed .223 SAW and 30 cal. Ammo cans in summer in my garage. All my lures and baits are in those, too. Skunky lures dont stink up my garage when I store them in those sealed ammo cans, and the Mrs. Likes that. grin

im with you jim I have better luck at scent posts using urine from other spiecies! Honestly I think a good clean domestic male dog urine would work as well as any. On my line anyplace my male dog pees a few days later it will be destroyed by kickbacks from local yotes! Not so much when my gyp pees some place. Must be a testosterone thing! I'd love to have a gallon of badger pee.

What most people aren't aware of is that there is artificial coyote, fox and cat urine and also musk made and sold by wholesale companies. These companies aren't making it just to sell a couple gallons a year. And the artificial stuff doesn't go bad. My guess is their's a lot of real urine cut with these products to expand the volume of urine available. So as I said earlier I think theirs a bigger risk about whether your urine is "good" than whether it will go "bad". With that said I think there's still people that supply the real uncut stuff.

I've always wondered if it was ok to store it in the plastic bottle or is glass preferred? I store it 1/3 full plastic bottles of RF urine in the freezer over the off season.

Mine gets left in plastic bottle in fur barn. A bottle usually last a couple years for me. Not a big coyote trapper.
