Anyone have any experience waxing dirt ( or traps) with soy wax?

Don't use it they will eat the dirt.

Yes, I ordered some SOY wax 15++ years ago, it was less expensive, thought I'd save some $$. Well, it was SOOO strong smelling like SOYBEANS/CHEMICAL......I never used it, lesson learned the hard way. For cats it may work fine, no way I'd use it on my coyote line.

I don't wax dirt, but I think most people who do are using soy wax.
I think all flake wax is soy. Paraffin will bead not flake. Do the internet research and see if you can find an instance of paraffin being flaked or of flake wax being anything other than soy. Paraffin being a petroleum product is also more of a "chemical" than soy- although every thing you see and touch and eat etc is a chemical or compound of chemicals.

? do coyotes shy away from bean fields? Do they gather around bean fields at harvest time and eat beans in preference to mice or grasshoppers??

I sure hope my yotes don't read this post! Cause I use soy wax with no problems. just another classic case of over thinking. ive even used moldy wax dirt with first nite catchs. It wasn't my preferred covering but sometimes you just got to try and see for your self

I've lived in rural Iowa 35 years-ish…...been around piles and piles of soybeans. The question was SOY wax...….the SOY wax I bought smelled sooo strong of SOY/CHEMICAL, much stronger smelling than a truckload of soybeans...…….I wouldn't use it. By all means if you like, knock yourself out. Maybe it's improved over the years.

I've made waxed dirt/sand for probably 20++ years and I've never used soy-wax, its always been petroleum based.

All waxs are a by products of petroleum products. With the exception of bees wax which is ester oils

All waxes are not petroleum products, soy wax is not, nor many other vegetable waxes. All waxes are chemical products, as are all animals. All the flake wax found on the internet is soy based. (except of course that manufactured by a secret process for trapper only use)

I wonder with all the guys that use mineral wax if someone has tried using just PMO to coat the dirt? It would eliminate the need for hot dry weather- just fill a cement mixer with dirt and pour in a couple gallons of gear oil.

May I ask: what is PMO?

pure mineral oil - used to make (called "wax") candy shiny, as a laxative, baby oil and as tractor gear/hydraulic oil, it is almost the same as paraffin but runny.
