I just sold a bunch of old money I had. I kept few coins and bills to give to the grand kids. I want to display them in a frame. What I need to do is cut some holes, in poster board, to set the coins in. I need to cut perfect circles, no ragged edges. The diameters I need are 1.51, 1.21, .959, .848, .764, and .712 inches. I tried drawing the circles and cutting free hand but that sure didn't work. I have thought about a compass with an Exacto Knife clamped in it but, I don't think I could do a circle that small with enough precision. The members of Trapperman seem to possess infinite knowledge. Does anybody have an idea as to how I could cut these circles?

I am not sure if they still make them but there used to be on the market what I would call and adjustable hole saw kit. These you could fit to the size you wanted and drill away. You may be able to locate some Forstner bits at a wood working supply company. I may not be calling them by the proper name. These bits drill a round hole with a flat bottom. Hope this helps.

I thought about both of those. I doubt, very much, if I could get Forstner bits the exact size I need. As far as a hole saw, I'm afraid it would leave a very rough edge.

Could use metal conduit to 'punch' holes but finding all the proper sizes would be a pain.

Check out an adjustable "Trepan" hole cutter, aka circle cutter. A trepan is a single point hole drill for drill press' or milling machines, with a center drill to locate and keep it true, and a single point lathe bit to cut. Google it.

My wife bought a Cricut. It's s $200 vinyl cutter for making vinyl signs. Crafters use them to make all kinds of things. It draws like a plotter, and cuts any shape you can put on the computer. She makes T-shirts, coffee mugs, signs that are hanging all over my house now, even lettered my boat. It keeps her busy and it only cost $200. I think I've bought lots of accessories for it since then.
It's a lot more expensive than an exacto knife but it would probably do what you want.
