I bought a gun from walmart about 8 years ago. After them taking a hour for all the paperwork and getting escorted to the door. I said never again. I support my local gunshop even if it costs a little more.

I drive right past Walmart most of the time. never enough check out line open. Had to go to the auto register to check out. Another reaction that will have little effect long term. JMO

We only shop at walmart if we have to. I think I have been to it one time this year. Wife usually shops at aldi's and Kroger's.

most of the cities stopped a few years ago. Madison WI Walmart's have no guns , but Monroe and Janesville WM do.
sometimes a hassle with local laws and often just a not making money on them to justify the storage and employees .

Picked up a mini 14 for half price at walmart awhile back How come they're never used in these mass shootings? For a while more minis were sold than ARs, back when there were only a few knock offs from Colt of the ARs. I bought my first mini in 1981 and have owned one ever since. Must not be "evil" enough if still in the wood stock. Had mine in a black nylon skeletonized stock for a while but end up hating it. Went back to the wood and added a home cut Maine birch forward grip. I like the action more than an AR. That sucker will shut 100% of the time, my brother's .223 AR about half the time without pushing it hard, haven't shot his AR-10 enough to form an opinion other than its a loud mother...

the local walmart still has guns last time I checked.
however, between my house adn the walmart is a gun shop - guns, fishing, archery, trapping, its all there - and always somebody willing and knowledgeable to help. thats where I get my guns, and most of that other stuff.

Plenty of guns at our walmart. They dont sell any AR rifles anymore, but they sell mini14s. Which i find hilarious. Plenty of ammo here too. Im so glad i dont live in a liberal cesspool. You yankees dont be getting any big ideas though, we eat tourists and yankees.
