Ever catch and hold one in a 0 long spring?
That is my goal this year. I have a few special spots where I can make them put there foot. The trap will be modified. And drowner system. Just got a dozen perfect for the job off the trap shed. Thank you Mn Cedar. With low prices if I miss so what and lesson learned.

Have fun educating your otter.

The only constant in trapping is change so keep learning.

Double up the springs, one on each end,and it might hold.

Even with doubled up springs and welded jaw tips... I dont see it happening. But to answer your original question, I have never caught one in a #0

personally swivels will be your biggest concern. once they get pinched they look like tornados. A 0 is awful small jaw spread for a big buck ott!

That is one thing I am going to do along with base plate and center swivel. It will be on a drowner. Missouri was populated with otters caught in 11s . Just want to see if it can be done and if I lose one it will likely end up in a nearby belise.
