To our New Zealand trapping brothers, could somebody send me the cost of shipping a tanned possum hide to the US? I understand you have an abundance of them and somebody might be willing to sell me one. I think it would be cool to have in our Minnesota Trappers Association fur displays when we do the county fairs.

I was in Aus/NZ about 3 years ago. Found out one or the other country was mixing possum fur with wool and saw some products made with it. Nice stuff. If someone with wool blending, carding and weaving skills could do that here, it might give us another outlet for possum fur.
I do recall that it effected the already depressed wool markets in NZ and Australia. That’s not good. But having another outlet for fur is always good.
My week at the MTA county fair booth has been a blast. We’re selling some fur and educating the daylights out of people. We’ve got some Finn coon faces from Central Asia , and a whole Timberwolf hide from the Northwest Territories. People are genuinely interested in hearing about fur use. Having fur from other parts of the world is enlightening too.
