Insomnia really has a hold of me tonight. Up late, scanning through YouTube videos and I came across this. Looks like it was just posted a few hours ago. If Locklear ever finds out this video is up, well, something tells me he's not going to be happy. Oh well, this is first class info for anyone that doesn't already know it......

I didn't watch the video but that's how I make my raccoon trailing scent. Works good and it's also a good predator lure. I think it's an even better predator lure if you replace the sardines with smoked oysters. I learned how to make it from Clint's video of course.

this guy says it doesn't last very long. at about the 32 second mark. is that what locklear says too?

take the belly fat out of male spoonbill and render it SLOW on the stove. that oil is wonderful. I wouldn't waste it on "trailing scent". Still don't get squirting stuff all over the bank. Its just too easy to get a set right in front of a coons face.

Thanks

Locklear said the odor doesn't last much after 2 or 3 months also

A shame to waste perfectly good sardines and other ingredients for what you would pay for a gallon of cheap fish oil. Some cheese and crackers would make me a nice meal with 6 cans of sardines. grin

Get a good pint of good pure sun rendered trout or paddlefish oil and mix it with some mineral oil and you will have some great lure and trailing scent that will last and not dissipate over time. That is money well spent.

The ratio can be determined by how strong of a representation of the oil is wanted. 50/50 would give you a good mix to start then you can go from there.

I'm certainly not about to argue the goodness of ANY sun rendered fish oil & it's honestly my preference. However, this method still works and not terribly so....

YES SIR....Actually no sir, locklear said no such thing in his video. He said 3-6 months, not 2-3. Not to mention the fact that this guy actually gets an additional 2-3 months out of it. He goes into that in the video...

U maybe right it's been awhile since I watched it. Maybe he said he likes to make up what he'll use in 2 or 3 months.

i can buy sardines for 85cents a can at our dollar store. I value my spoonbill oil ten times more then that's. if I was serious about that route id can a few quarts of bullheads its easy to make a artificial tuna mineral oil salt and a pressure cooker! I hear china is already getting a market establish for Asian carp I this form

Well it looks like the guy updated the description of his video......Now that's very interesting sir, especially the "anything" part. I think I know what oil he's talking about, not positive of course though.

Copy/paste of it below....

In this video I will show you a VERY easy way to make the LOUDEST & CLEANEST & FINEST smelling fish oil for attracting predators that you will ever use AND...There is a very simple, yet not as cost effective way of producing ALMOST ANY type of fish oil you choose that WILL have an INDEFINITE shelf life! FACTOID my friends....By doing nothing more than replacing the vegetable oil with another oil that is odorless & absolutely doesn't effect the odor ANYTHING that can blend with it Just another cool fact for those interested :-))))

Wow, sure is a lot of negativity in here for someone just trying to help out their fellow man. I'll be the odd man out and be on his side. It's only fair....

Yes Sir....I have no idea who he is buddy. It just popped up in my suggestions on youtube early this am. I enjoyed the video. He did a lot of explaining in it I thought.
