Ok so I am literally an old dog trying to learn a new trick. Trapping. I trapped last year but just with DP traps and did good on coon. However, my son in in the Army and is in the middle east right now and I have all of his traps. I am trying to clean them and have them ready for him when he gets home hopefully in Nov-Dec time frame so he can trap some. I cleaned them by soaking in muradic acid for a few minutes and got them hanging to rust some. Then I know to dye them and wax all the coil spring traps and put them were they will not get any scent on them. Here is my question. What should I do with his coniber and DP traps that are rusty? All help will be greatly appreciated. He wont have alot of time when he gets home so want him to be able to just jump right in.

Waxed bodygrippers are really touchy and can be painful as well.

Speed dip on conibears is pretty durable.
Please thank your son for his service!

Waxing conibears will make them too slick and hard to set without going off on their own. I've never waxed DPs but would just dye them or paint.
