Nice haul. I've been trying to find them, but no luck yet. What type of area are you guys finding them? I've been told , oaks that have mossy areas. Is that correct? x2 can you describe the terrain ? thx

Is that correct? x2 can you describe the terrain ? thx We found the trumpets last week in small groups scattered in woods that were mostly a mix of different kinds of oak-mostly chestnut oaks. If you find a few, look around very closely, they can be hard to spot.

Yup around oaks we had good luck on hillsides where recent rains washed the leaves down a bit and left some bare ground but also on hilltops with grass and moss. They hide in the leaves cause they look like dried leaves so that may be why moss, thin grass and bare ground seem to be the best spots. They live on oak roots so we found lines of them stretching out from the base to about 15 feet away max. I am no expert just sharing my very limited experience. They are great eating and no lookalikes so fun for the kids once we found a good area.
