I was asked about a month ago by my ex if I wanted to take a little road trip. After thinking it for a few days I said "Yes."
We loaded up in her new Jeep and headed west from here in Indiana. First stop was in Illinois where I stopped at a country cemetery to look up the graves of my Great Grandparents. It had been a couple of years since I had stopped by there. From there we went to Nebraska & Stopped at The Museum of the Fur Trade. Left there & slid down the western side of Nebraska to I 80. Went west to Fort Jones, California to see her 95 yr old cousin. Spent 4 days there before going north to Portland, Or. Spent a cpuple of days visiting with one of her classmates. Left Portland & went to see the Pacific as I had never been to either ocean. Got my feet wet before heading east. Took I 90 on the way home, stopping to see 2 of her ex sister in laws in Montana. She asked me where I wanted to go from there, I said I wanted to visit my Granddaughter, off to close to western Wi. Made a suprise visit & found them at home. I took them out to a Japanese eating house. Left right after supper & headed home.
5799.9 miles from leaving home I was back. Trip was 2 weeks long & both of us had a ball. Laughed all the way from start to finish. Great trip, Great time, Great company.
Not sure where the next road trip is going to be or when, but wherever it is I plan on having fun.

Sounds like a great time. I want to get out to the Fur Trade Museum sometime.

A question that I know will get asked, Why is she your ex? I know things don't always work between couples but 2 weeks on a road trip would be trying for some married couples.

She is my ex and has been for many years. We may have patched things up, but neither of us is wanting to jump into a legal status at any time soon.

Sound like a nice trip. Maybe you have a sole mate if not a wife? If it works, don't overthink it.
