Do you prefer pans or triggers on 160's for fisher? If triggers, what configuration. These will be set on running poles and cubbies boxes.

On any size trap for fisher I would use a pan with the trap set about 5 inches in front of the bait in either a box or running pole. When set close to the bait, you will get a neck or neck and thorax quick kill zone strike virtually every time. This occurs because the animal is stable at the bait, not moving through, and centered towards the trap when it is triggered.

The only constant in trapping is change so keep learning.

I have never used metal pans but would think that wood is a more natural surface. I have used corrugated plastic pans and have not noticed any difference between them and wood

It seems a lot more trappers prefer wood over metal.

Do you guys ever paint those wood pans?

I've been using wood pans for mink and marten for many years. I dip my traps in paint/thinner, pans and all. However if I replace a pan, I don't worry about it.

Just doing what I want now.
