Anyone use that black erosion control fabric for pan covers? I just tried It out and It works great. I just cut It to fit dragged It across the dog notch to form a hole for the dog and set the trap and the jaws keep It locked down. Is this stuff to good to be true.

You may think before you act. The question is did you listen to your own council?

If you cut It just right the loose jaw and the fixed jaw will hold It down where the spring levers come down. I'm getting fed up with polly fill so this might be the answer. I can't wait to try It out.

Landscaping cloth comes in different thicknesses too, made from Polypropylene, won't soak water but water won't go thru it.

Common sense catches alot of fur..

Beav:

Been using it for quite a while. One caveat. Its made with resins that sometimes give off an odor offensive to canines (there are a variety of weights and manufacturers so your product may vary). I've had coyotes dig some of mine up, and other brands they ignored. However, now I cut all my fabric to the correct dimension, then place them in a gallon metal can and boil them in water with a little salt added. I then drain them and dry them. Seems to work great. The salt residue is just enough to keep off those mild early frosts.

The chemical issue was what I was wondering about. I will have to do the boiling with salt thing.

As to the cutting thing I just cut them so they fit inside the jaws and long enough so they fit under the dogged jaw and stick out about a 1" or so under the loose jaw.
I just drag the material across the pan notch to create a hole so the dog can be inserted. The dog Is on top of the material.

I’ve been using the landscape fabric by Preen ( the kind without herbicide) I like the way it lays on a 650. I’ve not had any issues but would not be afraid to throw them in the washing machine with my hunting clothes. This stuff is about the same thickness as a denim shirt.
