You have question, just ask. Lot of men on here that will help you. Send me a private mail. If I have experience in what you are asking about, I will share what I can. I have asked a skinny million guys questions through private. Normally if a guy can help you they will try. I have done all I can to help some trappers through private mail. I think I have helped several guys but I know I have learned a lot from many many more.
Guys on this post that have been kind to me: Taximan, Boco, the one and only Beav , Dobbins, JabNE, Larry, and more.

I suspect a lot of guys are like me in that they come to visit the forum to get a break from real life stresses. Some times you will see silly answers from guys trying to keep it light.

If you are real serious about learning contact someone for instructions. Some will give instructions that do not advertise, give me a shout. Other well known guys advertise. Over the last 50 plus years of trapping has found me taking instructions from a lot of guys. Just make sure they are doing what you want to learn. If you need references for good instructors, send me a private message.
Good luck

Mac

Okay Skydancer, what do you want to know? All kidding aside, there are no dumb questions. But on here you’ll get dozens of answers and it’s up to you to separate the funny from the factual.

Sky dancer, I'm no expert but you are always welcome to PM me with any questions and I am.always happy to share what I do and have learned from others.
Jim

Money cannot buy you happiness, but it can buy you a trapping license and that's pretty close.

Good post jabNE!

I’ve trapped for 30 years. I have learned more in the last 10 years by reading post on here. It’s also nice to see that others do or have the same thoughts, and ideas as I do. It is a great resource for the newbie and the veteran. I am constantly taking screenshots of post so I can write them down later.

Lumberjack 391 made a good point. I remember back in the 70s at the State Rendezvous if you asked an old trapper a question they would ask what county you lived in. If you were within 50 miles they didn't tell you much. Other than this site I just goggle the subject and usually a Utube how to video pops up

I remember about twenty years ago when otter were 100$, at the Springfield convention. Two trappers from Mo. told me they caught a lot of otter. I ask for pointers and they said it was a secret. I live over 600 miles away.

Difficult to separate fly specks from pepper. Easier to separate wheat from chaff. I suggest scanning for key words..
