Can tell a bit about the traps from the pics. They appear to be Animal Trap Co traps made between mid 1920s and mid 1960s. The chains and drags appear original but the side of the Y chains with the snap may have been removed(not obvious in the pics at least). Others may be able to tell more.

I like the beaver tail wallet in the pictures also. Where do you get them? Thanks Don Look under the Craft Sales Forum for Randy Shuff. I just posted the mountain lion track picture to bring his post to the top.

WOW!!!! That's a once in a lifetime find...
Am I seeing old bones in the one trap? I'm not sure, but the jaws are open a little on the one trap as if something is wedged in it. I will inspect when I clean them up. My brother said they were all wrapped up together so they were not set at the time they were lost or left. He said they were setting up against a rock wall at the base of a big tree so maybe they would be easy to find if they were left behind. He wished that he would have taken a picture before he moved them. Like I said in the original post this area was part of the big fire last year then they got a flood shortly after so they were about half covered in dirt. Based on the rust pitting pattern I think they were basically setting on the ground or lightly covered until last year.

Im a Colorado stamp fan. Keep that. CO stamps are getting harder and harder to find.
Most all of the State issued bear traps back in the day ended up in the landfill. I so wish they wouldn't have done that.
