why do most trap manufactures use brass pan bolts? Is it just to prevent rusting and Goulding of the pan? I’m replacing a lot of stripped out bolts and often wonder.

Cheaper and some brass bolts, notoriously on dukes, are cheaper than others and strip easily. Not enough demand from most trappers to upgrade to make it worth the extra cost to manufacturers. The few traps that don't use brass are specialized and expensive traps anyways.

Those bolts on Duke traps aren't brass bolts. They are fake brass bolts.

First thing I replace on all duke traps darn pan bolts. I use 10-32 bolts and nuts they will out last the trap.
