Can anyone give me the dimensions needed to make trigger pans for 160s? How far apart should the holes be for the wires to slide through? Also, should I treat the wood with anything?

Get some Corrugated plastic cardboard. Cut to size and slip the trigger wires into the slots.

Or, no need for trigger wire hole slots in your wood pans, just staple them on.

That staple method is creative.

With the signage material you don't need staples It's water proof and It's very lite In weight.

I've used them for years for marten, mink and fisher.

If I get xtra time I may set some conibears with coni pans, in cubbies, for bobcat this winter, but I'm not sure trying to catch a bobcat in conibears is worth trying

If you want zero wobble from your pans on your triggers bend the wire at a 45 ou to sides from from notch tab then bend back parallel so they are at least 3" spread. Slide Beav's corroplast plastic pans on and if they are 4 way triggers you are golden. They can also be bent so that pan sits at about a 20-30 degree upward rise. Trigger wires, close together, thru loose pan holes have too much slop and less sensitivity for me.

I've learned enough thru the years to now know that I don't know enough. KNOWLEDGE IS FREEDOM.

I have 50/50 drilled pans and stapled pans. The stapled version is definitely faster to build and work equally as well. I stapled mine on using T25 crown staples and it works amazingly well.
For the drilled ones I just went with what the traps had for trigger wire spacing and drilled through the pans squarely. I then took the remaining wire and bent it under the pan using my Klein tie wire pliers.
The pans are an inch narrower than the inside dimension of the spring eyes between the jaws with the trap set, so you end up with 1/2” from either spring to pan edge. I settled on them being 1 7/8” in depth.

As I was patterning what I wanted it amazed me what 1/8” difference in either length or width did to the appearance and functionality of the pans.

I use my pruning shears and cut a small stick about the diameter of my fat finger and drill two small holes in it to accommodate the trigger wire. Cut the stick to length so it just fits inside the jaws of the trap. Snip off the trigger wires so they protrude just beyond the stick.

You could use it on any size BG. I cut the wires and have the stick running horizontally with the lower jaw. Seems more natural for a critter to see a stick than a metal pan.

Not a lot different than wiring aspen in a 330 for beaver.

Natural is good. I'd prefer wood over metal, too, Posco.

I think that stick is too close to the jaw. I could see them stepping over it.
