I have used heavy wire growing up. I used some 14 ga wire double it. All I had to use. I use some chain now still some heavy wire in a few places.

In some of the brush we have, a coon won't get six feet on a drag. When I use grapples, I hook them tight normally.... coon doesn't go anywhere. Everything has it's place. A lot of places call for a 2 inch fence staple in a tree root, no driving stakes and holds great. A branch drag near big water or open country will get you in trouble sooner or later.

Right now I’m having amnesia and déjà vu at the same time. I think I’ve forgotten this before.

Thanks for the idea about using limbs instead of drags! Great idea!

Every one uses wire on the trap line. Trap chain is wire, cable is wire. Anything can be broken, key is in how you break it, most every one breaks the tie wire with pliers. I don't recommend haywire to anyone and I won't be without it. I don't use haywire where it can bind or where the animal exerts direct strain on it.
