DiggerDirect OP trapper Joined: Nov 2012 Posts: 20 uPstate New York	Hello, recently picked up a box of old traps that has several 'Champion' #1 longsprings in it. I've been trying to research their history. From this forum I learned they were made by the Chas. D. Bridell mfg. Co., & that they were bought out by ATC around 1939. Any other information on the company? (ie: location, dates of operation, ect.) All replies appreciated thank you in advance!

Trapper Pete trapper T Joined: Dec 2006 Posts: 414 South Dakota	The first traps made by Bridell were Cushion Grip traps in 1936. They were the first rubber jaw trap. In 1937 the Champion was introduced and in '38 the Chas. Bridell Escape Proof was put on the market. In 1939 ATC bought the company. The Champion was still sold in 1939 by Animal Trap Company without the "B" in the pan. I also think that ATC sold some cushion grips in 1939 because I have a short spring Cushion Grip with no B in the pan. The Escape Proof was also sold by ATC after the buy out with pan or base stampings indicating that the trap was produced and sold by ATC.
