This lure is basically in liquid form. Trapper Art's is a top notch trapper and vendor and lure maker, so I'm not questioning the quality of this lure. I'm curious though if many of you like using a lure that is basically in liquid form, versus a paste type lure?

Liquid lures doesn't bother me at all, especially if they are an oily base. I'd rather have liquid than a lure that was originally a liquid until they diluted it by adding a thickener. Sometimes it take a pretty good % of thickener to make a paste bait.

Just me but i prefer a paste lure, same with bait and i use a butter knife to apply them. Even though i know that there is some very good liquid lure out there. Tiny lids and liquid just never work out for me.

Let me sugar coat this

Haven't decided yet

You may think before you act. The question is did you listen to your own council?

It seems to me like the liquid lure doesn't adhere or last as long when applied in the field or stream.

Some very critical ingredients in lures come in liquid form. The most expensive ingredients I use in our lures BY FAR come from novelty producers and either come in powder (VERY PRICEY) form ready for tincturing or in a liquid form.

Nick Wyshinski from PA was the king of the industry not that long ago - and I'm so very glad I met him and he was eager to help anyone, and me specifically, back in the 1980's when I was getting started.

Any lure can become thick.... add thickener.
I smile when I see some trappers don't prefer lures that are not thick. If it's for ease of use, etc. that'd be one tactic, but to discount them because they are inferior is not understanding the full range of ingredients available to use as lure makers today.
Civit oil is an example of an absolutely crazy good lure ingredient and it's a liquid.
I don't add any thickeners as they may change the smell or longevity of the ingredients.
Never have, never will.

Mark

you can order "thickener" from JR and Sons........ or Grawes.........your supposed to have their catalogs on your desk already. Dint you get the memo, to keep 10 different catalogs handy ?

the problem with adding anything is, NOW the formula is "thinned/cut" so odor may suffer

all but 2 of the lures we make are liquid and our repeat customers like and are successful with them

we suggest dipping a hollow weed or twig bout an inch into the bottle OR you can dribble a dab out

we do offer dropper caps for another .50

Yes sir,

I would classify most of these ingredient forms as "baits" (edible) rather than "lures" as we define them in trapping.
Gland aren't baits of course, and are 100% supreme in the world of animal attractants.

I prefer my glands thick and my meat baits a paste. Lures I don't care liquid saturates the soil making it impossible to remove. A quality loud liquid bait should keep a set working for a month. Unless a monsoon washes out your hole. I've checked old sets during spring turkey season that was still producing scent and being dug at repeatedly.Granted it was a oil base with a good dose of skunk
